The kind of company I want to build
I was catching up with a former colleague from SocialCops and I realized that I have ended up going back to my SocialCops experience and network a lot.
SocialCops, a data startup based out of Delhi, was my first job after undergrad. I had almost decided to give up on that offer for a better paying & a stable job. But I didn’t. I often go back in my mind to understand what made me do that. And I have realized it was the people.
They had put very intentional efforts in building the team. A bunch of misfits, from varying walks of life coming together to create something from scratch. They optimized for passion over experience, they got people who thrived in ambiguity and pressure. They betted on their potential than their resume. And I want to do that.
I am building a startup, and we all know that it is a game with minimal probability of success. And yet we still do it. I want to get a bunch of crazy amazing people together. It doesn’t matter if we succeed in what we are building right now. It would be a group of people where it is good to belong to.
